John Prine's "The Missing Years" Vinyl Available Now

For the first time ever, John Prine's famed album The Missing Years is now available on vinyl. Today you can finally purchase your copy via Prine's official online store, Amazon and your local record store. This 180-gram, two-LP set comes with a digital download card and contains all the original artwork, as well as additional photos and era artifacts across the jacket's dual gatefold.

This limited vinyl edition also features the bonus track "The Third Of July," which is now being released for the first time. This tune is also available digitally on iTunes right now. To hear more, stream this song here, as well as view a video previewing this special edition release.

John Prine's "The Missing Years" on Vinyl

Although long-admired by his peers as an innovative songwriter, it was not until John Prine's tenth studio album, The Missing Years, that he earned one of music's highest honors. Deemed "Best Contemporary Folk Album" at the 1992 Grammy Awards, The Missing Years showed Prine's magic typewriter had not lost its touch.

On July 9, this fantastic album will be available for the first time on vinyl. This 180-gram, two-LP set comes with a digital download card and contains all the original artwork, as well as additional photos and era artifacts across the jacket's dual gatefold. This special edition also features the previously unreleased track, "The Third Of July," which was originally recorded for the album. Produced by the late Howie Epstein, best known as member of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Prine's album vocal and trademark acoustic guitar never sounded so crisp. "On this record," John Prine recalls, "we worked ten to twelve hours a day. We were able to spend a great deal of time on vocals." Prine continues, "It was all built around my acoustic guitar. Howie just did such a darn good job. He's a real nitpicker."

This two-LP set is being pressed in limited quantities and is now available for pre-order in advance of the July 9 release date via John Prine's official online store. Digital downloads of this bonus track version will be available at all online music retailers on July 9, with the vinyl also arriving at your local record store on that day.

John Prine on Ron Davies Tribute Album

John Prine is one of the many wonderful artists featured on a great, new compilation album. "Unsung Hero: A Tribute To The Music Of Ron Davies" finds John Prine performing the track "You Stayed Away Too Long." The album is available now at music retailers like Amazon (both physical and digital versions) and iTunes, as well as wherever else music is sold. A portion of the proceeds from each copy sold will benefit Nashville, Tennessee's W.O. Smith Music School to provide musical instruments and lessons for underprivileged children.

Last October, John Prine performed at the "Love For Levon" benefit concert in East Rutherford, NJ in honor of his friend, the late Levon Helm. "Cowboy" Jack Clement Wrap-Up

This past Wednesday night in Nashville, John Prine joined a magical group of artists, actors and writers in saluting the famed musician, producer and songwriter "Cowboy" Jack Clement. Many media outlets covered the event, including Rolling Stone, the Nashville Scene and Music Row Magazine.

John Prine performed the tune "Ballad Of A Teenage Queen" in honor of "Cowboy" Jack, and then evening ended when the legend Jack Clement took the stage and sang a few classics of his own.

John Prine to Salute "Cowboy" Jack Clement

John Prine has been added to the long list of musical artists who will perform at "Honor Thy Music: A Tribute to Cowboy Jack Clement" on Wednesday, January 30 at Nashville's War Memorial Auditorium.

The event will celebrate the remarkable life and legacy of "Cowboy" Jack Clement who has been at the center of the music industry for more than six decades. An award-winning producer, performing artist, songwriter, publisher and executive, "Cowboy" Jack has worked with some of the biggest stars across genres of music from Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash to Louis Armstrong, Roy Orbison and U2.
